The best places to buy wall art online depend on what you want on the wall: Etsy for independent sellers, Society6 and Minted for artist-made designs, Saatchi Art for originals, and Great Big Canvas, iCanvas or CanvasPiece for ready-made canvas prints. Framebridge suits art you already own. Match the place to the piece, then check the size.
- Original art and mass-produced prints are different purchases: Saatchi Art sells originals, while Society6, Great Big Canvas, iCanvas and CanvasPiece sell prints.
- Etsy is a marketplace of individual sellers, so quality and lead times change from shop to shop, while a single-brand store keeps both consistent.
- Framebridge frames art you already own, which is a different job from buying new art.
- Over an 84 inch sofa, the art should be 56 to 63 inches wide, so check the size in inches before the subject.
- CanvasPiece pieces come as a Canvas Print, Framed Canvas, Framed Print or Poster Print, with Free Shipping on every US order.
What Are the Best Places to Buy Wall Art Online?
Eight places cover most needs: Etsy, Society6, Minted, Saatchi Art, Great Big Canvas, iCanvas, Framebridge and CanvasPiece. They fall into four groups. Marketplaces gather many sellers, artist platforms print independent designs, print brands sell a ready-made catalog, and framers work on art you supply.
The details below come from each company's own site or a reputable source. Check current terms before you order, because policies change.
Which Websites Sell Wall Art From Independent Artists?
Etsy
Etsy describes itself as a global marketplace for unique and creative goods, and wall art there ranges from handmade pieces to custom-made orders. It suits you if you want something personal, such as a custom pet portrait or a name print. Because each shop sets its own materials and timing, read the listing and the reviews for that shop.
Society6
Society6 says it connects you to designs by independent artists from around the world and custom makes everything after you order. Its menus list art prints, canvas prints, framed art prints, framed canvas prints and metal prints, plus pillows, mugs and other home goods. It suits you if you want a bold graphic or an illustration and a wide choice of formats.
Minted
Minted sources its art through open design challenges, in which artists submit work and the public and other artists vote on the entries. The winning designs are then produced and sold by Minted. It suits you if you like art chosen by a public vote rather than by one brand.
Where Can You Buy Original Art Online?
Saatchi Art is the clearest answer if you want an original painting or drawing rather than a print. Return terms for originals are often stricter than for prints, with exclusions for some pieces, so read the current policy and confirm the exact dimensions before you buy.
An original is a one-off object, while a print can be ordered again in another size. If you want the same image in a larger size next year, a print store is the easier route. Our guide to how to decorate a large wall covers how to mix both.
Where Can You Buy Large Ready-Made Wall Art?
Great Big Canvas, iCanvas and CanvasPiece sell ready-made catalogs of canvas and framed art, so you choose a piece, a size and a finish instead of uploading anything. Great Big Canvas describes its art as made to order and sorts it by subject, style, room and color. iCanvas lists canvas prints, fine art paper prints, framed options and giant wall art, and says it was founded in 2006 as a printing company.
Both also list other materials. iCanvas names wood, acrylic and metal as options, and Society6 lists metal prints. CanvasPiece sticks to canvas and paper in four finishes.
Pro tip: Open each store's size chart before you fall for a picture. Product photos often show the art in a room, and the room can make a 24x16 inch piece look like a 48x32.
How Do the Eight Places Compare?
| Place | What it sells | Best if you want |
|---|---|---|
| Etsy | Wall art from many individual sellers, including custom orders | A personal or custom piece |
| Society6 | Art prints, canvas, framed prints and metal prints from independent artists | Illustration and graphic design |
| Minted | Art from artists chosen through design challenges | Art selected by public vote |
| Saatchi Art | Original artworks from artists | A one-off original |
| Great Big Canvas | Made-to-order wall art sorted by subject, style, room and color | A large catalog to browse by room |
| iCanvas | Canvas, paper, framed, wood, acrylic and metal prints | Many materials in one store |
| Framebridge | Custom framing of your own art and photos | Framing for art you already own |
| CanvasPiece | Single-piece prints in four finishes, printed to order | One landscape, map or skyline piece, with Free Shipping in the US |
Read the table by job, not by rank. No single place wins every row, and the right one changes with the piece you picture.
Where Do You Get Art Framed or Custom Work Done?
Framebridge is a custom framing service. Its site says you can upload a digital photo, mail in art and objects, or visit a store, and it offers design assistance. It sells frames and mats rather than a catalog of ready-made art, so it fits a print, poster or photo you already own.
If you want art that arrives ready to hang, a store that frames its own pieces saves a step. CanvasPiece offers a Framed Canvas and a Framed Print, and Canvas Prints are stretched over a solid wooden inner frame and arrive ready to hang.
Where Does CanvasPiece Fit?
CanvasPiece sells single-piece wall art, printed to order in four finishes: Canvas Print, Framed Canvas, Framed Print and Poster Print. Shapes are Landscape, Square, Panoramic and Portrait, and every US order ships with Free Shipping and arrives in 8 to 10 business days. It suits you if you want one clear image over a sofa or bed, such as a lake, a city skyline or a map.
It is a smaller catalog than the large marketplaces and it does not sell originals. Only the US takes orders today. Canvas prints use museum-quality canvas and archival inks, and the sizes run from 12x8 to 60x40 inches on a landscape canvas and from 24x8 to 60x20 on a panoramic one.
How Do You Choose the Right Size and Place?
Pick the size first, then the store. Art over a sofa works best at two thirds to three quarters of the sofa's width, and the bottom edge should sit 6 to 10 inches above the cushions. Walk through the steps below before you buy.
- Measure the furniture width in inches and multiply by 0.67 and 0.75 to get the target range.
- Decide on an original, a print or a custom framing job, which narrows the stores.
- Check which sizes each store lists and pick the closest one inside your range.
- Read the return terms, including who pays for the return and any restocking fee.
- Check the delivery time against the date you need the art on the wall.
An 84 inch sofa calls for art 56 to 63 inches wide, because two thirds of 84 is 56 and three quarters is 63. A 60x20 inch panoramic canvas is 60 inches wide, which sits inside that range. Hang its bottom edge 8 inches above the back cushions, inside the 6 to 10 inch gap.
Watch out: A low price per print means little if the size you need is not offered. Check that the exact dimensions exist before you pick a design.

Where Should You Buy Wall Art Before Christmas?
Pick a store that states its delivery time, then order early. CanvasPiece orders arrive in 8 to 10 business days, so an order placed by Thursday, December 10 arrives before Christmas, which falls on Friday, December 25 in 2026. Other stores set their own cutoffs, so look for the date on the product page or in the cart. Our Christmas wall art guide has gift ideas.
Every piece is printed to order, with Free Shipping on US orders. Start with the subject you picture over the sofa.

Quick answers
Common Questions
What is the best website for wall art?
No single site is best for everyone. Etsy suits custom and personal pieces, Society6 and Minted suit artist-made designs, Saatchi Art suits originals, and Great Big Canvas, iCanvas and CanvasPiece suit ready-made canvas and framed prints. Choose by the type of piece you want, then compare sizes and return terms.
Where can I buy reasonable wall art?
Print stores and marketplaces usually cost less than original art, because a print can be produced again for each order. Compare the finished size in inches rather than the headline price, and check shipping and return terms. A smaller piece in a poster print or canvas print finish keeps the cost down without changing the subject.
Where is the best place to buy artwork?
For an original, a platform such as Saatchi Art connects you with artists directly. For a print, a store with a clear size chart and return policy is the safer choice. Buy where you can see the dimensions in inches and the delivery date, since those two facts decide most regrets.
What are some reputable websites for buying art?
Etsy, Society6, Minted, Saatchi Art, Great Big Canvas, iCanvas and CanvasPiece are all established online sellers of wall art. Reputable here means clear terms: a stated return window, listed sizes and a way to contact the seller. Read the return policy before you pay.
What is the best online art store?
The best online art store is the one that sells the kind of piece you need at the size you need. Saatchi Art leads for originals, Etsy for custom work, Framebridge for framing your own art, and print stores like Great Big Canvas, iCanvas and CanvasPiece for ready-made pieces.
