Shop Wall Art by Style
A style page is three questions, not one list: how it was made, how it looks, and where it belongs. Choosing on the right axis is what makes the piece feel chosen rather than picked at random.
Medium
The material decides the surface before the subject does. A painting, an illustration and a sketch hang differently even at the same size.
Movement
Every style on a wall came from somewhere. Modern and Minimalist are answers artists gave to specific problems, not just moods.
Decor Style
Decor style describes the room, not the artwork. Coastal, Japandi and Farmhouse describe the space the piece is going into, the axis to use when the room is already finished.
How It Was Made
Medium
The material a piece is made from, before subject or movement.
How It Looks
Movement
The visual tradition a piece belongs to.
Where It Belongs
Decor Style
The room style a piece is meant to join.
Common Questions
How Do I Pick a Style for a Room?
Work from what the room already has. If the furniture, rug and paint are settled, choose on decor style so the artwork joins them. If the room is plain and needs a focal point, choose on movement and let the piece lead.
What Is the Difference Between a Medium and a Movement?
Medium is how a piece was made: painted, drawn, photographed. Movement is how it looks and the tradition it belongs to, such as Modern or Minimalist. The same subject can exist in more than one medium and more than one movement at once.
Should Every Room Match?
No. Keep one thread running through the whole home, usually a color family or a medium, and let the style change with the room.
