Antique Wall Decor

Antique Wall Decor

This antique wall decor is old-world pictures printed new: nautical world maps, an antique map of Italy, a pirate treasure map, a pocket watch mechanism, clock faces and a sailing ship. They are new prints made to order, not aged objects, so you choose the size that fits your wall.

Antique Map Wall Art: How Much Of The World You Want

Antique map wall art comes down to how much of the world you want on the wall. For antique world map wall art, Antique Nautical World Map and Vintage Nautical World Map show the whole globe. Retro Europe Map narrows the view to one continent, and Aegean Nautical Map with Compass narrows it to a single sea. Retro Map with Biplane and Compass brings a biplane into the picture along with the compass. For maps of cities, states and countries, see the city and country map art collection.

Large Antique Wall Art For The Living Room

For large antique wall art, measure the furniture first and cover about two thirds to three quarters of its width. Above a 72 inch sofa, a 48 x 32 inch print covers about 67 percent of the width. For vintage wall art in the living room, choose one large piece for the wall above the sofa instead of several small ones. A world map such as Antique Nautical World Map is a natural pick there, since it covers the whole globe. Leave 6 to 8 inches between the sofa and the bottom edge of the picture.

Vintage Wall Art For The Bedroom

For vintage wall art in the bedroom, hang one piece above the bed and size it to the headboard. Vintage Nautical World Map comes in a panoramic shape, which follows the line of the headboard instead of rising above it. At 54 x 18 inches it covers about 71 percent of a 76 inch headboard. Keep the wall around it bare, so nothing else competes with the picture over the bed.

Antique Bathroom Wall Art For A Small Wall

Keep antique bathroom wall art small and simple: above a 27 inch vanity, an 18 x 12 inch print covers about 67 percent of the width. Choose a single subject, such as Antique Sailing Ship at Sea, and save the world maps for a wide wall elsewhere in the house.

A Den Or Study With A Treasure Map, Instruments And A Roadster

A den or a study is a natural home for Vintage Pirate Treasure Map and Antique Nautical Instruments with Flintlock, hung above a desk or a bookcase beside dark wood and leather. Sepia Vintage Roadster Side Profile adds a vintage roadster seen from the side, for the same kind of wall. Sailing ships in other styles, from sunset scenes to moonlit ones, are in the sailing ship wall art collection.

Antique Framed Wall Art

Antique framed wall art comes two ways: a Framed Print puts the picture behind a white mat inside a frame, and a Framed Canvas places the canvas in a frame. Both arrive ready to hang, so a framed map or clock picture can go straight up in a hallway, a study or above a dresser.

Pocket Watch And Clock Pictures For A Hallway

Antique Pocket Watch Mechanism, Antique Spiral Clock Face and Antique Golden Clock Mandala are pictures of timepieces, not clocks that tell the time, so they hang as art. Antique Pocket Watch Mechanism and Antique Spiral Clock Face come in a panoramic shape, which runs along a hallway above a bench or a narrow table. Above a 42 inch hall table, a 30 x 10 inch print covers about 71 percent of the width. Antique Golden Clock Mandala gives the short stretch of wall between two doors a single subject to hold.

A Map Of Italy With An Ornate Cartouche

Antique Map of Italy with Ornate Cartouche shows the country as an old map, and a cartouche is the ornamental label that carries a map's title. It comes in a square shape, which fits the narrow wall between two windows. If you want Italy as a place rather than a map, see the Italy wall art collection.

How Each Piece Is Made

Every piece is printed after you order it and shipped free from within your region, with delivery in 8 to 10 days from the day you order. A Canvas Print uses museum-quality canvas and archival inks stretched over a solid wooden inner frame, while a Poster Print arrives unframed and does not come ready to hang. Returns are open for 30 days from delivery.

Common Questions

What are some antique wall decor ideas?

Start with one antique-style picture and give it a wall of its own. Match the old-world tone with what is already in the room, such as dark wood or brass lamps, and keep the surrounding wall bare. Hang a map or a clock picture where you can stand near it, beside a desk or along a hallway.

Where can I buy antique wall decor?

For antique and vintage styles as new prints, order here: open a piece, choose a size and finish on its page, and it is printed for you. For a genuine aged object, such as an old brass instrument or a framed old chart, look to an antique dealer or an auction house instead.

Is antique wall art made of metal?

Antique metal wall art usually means wrought iron or copper hangings, which are objects rather than pictures, and the pieces here are not those. They are printed pictures, made after you order, in the size and finish you choose on each product page. If you want the metal itself, search for metalwork instead.

Does antique wall art work in a modern farmhouse living room?

Yes. A single old-world picture, such as a map or a clock face, gives a modern farmhouse living room an antique note without competing with the furniture. Hang one piece on a clear wall near wood or white painted furniture and let it stand alone.

What size is large antique wall art?

Large antique wall art spans 36 to 60 inches across, depending on the piece you choose. That range reaches from a short wall beside a window to a long wall above a sideboard. Each size has its own price, so you can compare them before you add anything to your cart.
